about

Hailing from Paris, duo Amor Satyr & Siu Mata make their debut on NHS with two mutated dance hall inspired cuts laden with manic energy and seriously hard drum work. Following up their debut collaboration on Hiedrah Club de Baile comprised of two tracks focused on the 150bpm range, the pair slow down things to around the 100bpm mark. This has no effect on the frantic energy however, as both releases maintain a level of madness through the double time percussion programming and warped melodic aesthetics; an offering of truly innovative club tracks from these two fine producers.

'Nah' sets the tone well with its tabla rhythm that doubles as a pitch-bending hook. The choppy, sharpened percussion moves at a blistering pace behind the steady humming bassline and kick combination. A simple concept refined with intricate details and consistently varying approaches to the same formula. Keeping things simple and mastering what limited sounds are being used is the pair's forte.

'Ash' takes the journey to a much more anxious domain with its de-tuned, heavily pitched bells that bounce and twist around the initial dance hall rhythm carried along by the thumping kick. The frantic suspense that slowly envelops the whole track comes to its illogical conclusion in the final half of the track - taking on a rampant, dizzying 4x4 beat, the whole event becomes completely detached from its previous self and sends the mood into an utter frenzy of noise.
